Fills a template's {name} placeholders — format("Skip in {seconds}", "seconds" to 5) gives "Skip in 5". Values are inserted verbatim (no escaping, no plural rules) in a single pass, so a value that itself contains a {token} is never expanded again; placeholders without a value are left as they are.

Strings from a flat key → text map, the same keys on every platform (the property names of this class). Partial maps are fine: a missing key keeps its English default, an unknown key is ignored.
